HAND BLOWN · ONE AT A TIME

A wide foot that sits steady on the table, an open body that widens as it rises, and a wall thin enough to see the room through. You hold it by the bowl, not the stem — Alex insists on that.

Every glass is different. The glass keeps moving while it cools, so the height, the tone and the bubbles shift from one to the next. What arrives will look like the photograph. It will not be identical to it.

Who makesthis

Alex in the studio, carrying a glowing gather of glass on the blowpipe
Alex. The thirty seconds while the glass is still listening.

In the Russian army they taught Alex that nothing breaks if you hit it hard enough.

It took him years to find out the opposite is true — the most beautiful things in the world are exactly the ones that can break at any moment.

So he ran. One bag, two empty hands, a one-way ticket. He landed in a country where the war never ends — it only changes its name and its season. And then, in Tim's studio, he stood in front of an opening burning at 1,100°C and found out something no commander ever managed to teach him: glass is alive. It gives you about thirty seconds while it still listens to you. Hesitate and it stiffens. Rush and it cracks.

“I've seen too many people saving the good bottle for the right moment. The right moment never comes. It's already here.” — Alex

He knows the people who have nothing to drink from. He used to be one of them. That is why he makes glasses — and why every one of them leaves the studio with a single promise: drink now.
